Text Box: We finished up our camping and conservation unit in Social Studies with a big Camp Out today. We spent time outside listening to camp stories, running relays, making s’mores, and a creating a camping craft. It was lots of fun!
Next week we will begin working with our word wall words. Each week we will learn five new sight words that we will practice spelling each morning. During the ‘Working With Words” block we clap out all the letters in the words, practice saying sentences using them, and sometimes do rhymes using the new word wall words. Our new words will be:
big, it, at, can, who

Ahead:
September 14 is Grandparent’s Day! Please invite grandparents to arrive in the lobby by 1:50 p.m. for cookies. Then, someone will be down to the lobby to bring them to our room.

We had a blast on our hike last week!

If you don’t see your child this week, watch for them in upcoming newsletters.

Also, visit our website to see our “Meet the Class” page.

Many times the words will coordinate with our stories.  Eventually, I will be sending home sight word cards to practice along with the leveled readers in the brown folder. I am very happy with the great start in the  leveled readers.  Keep up the practice at home and remember not to worry if your child is using the pictures to help them read the words, or if it seems they have memorized.  This is all natural and builds confidence.

Have a nice THREE DAY  weekend!
