Mrs. Maxey Text Box: Important Events: 02/14: Valentine’s Day Party (Watch for notes) 02/17: No School—Teacher’s Institute at Centralia 02/20: No School—President’s Day 02/24: Spring and Class Pictures at Hawthorn 02/24: Field Trip to see SEUSSICAL at Kaskaskia College 03/17: Spring Carnival at Hawthorn (tentative date) 03/30: Early Dismissal @ 2:00 p.m. 04/02-04/09– Spring Break Text Box: Our Week: In social studies, we followed Felix, a stuffed bunny in the book Letters from Felix: A Little Rabbit on a World Tour, who took the wrong flight at the airport! Felix sent letters from London, Paris and Italy. Next week we hope Felix finds his way home to Sophie in Ohio! In writing we have learned how to be editors. We ask, “Does my story have a title? Did I leave spaces between my words? Did I use capitals and punctuation? Did I spell the word wall words right? Do I have at least 5 sentences?” IF the answer to all these questions was “yes”, then we were ready to have it checked by Mrs. Maxey. Their goal is to edit three stories, and once they have completed that, they get to PUBLISH! 100th Day Party: We had a fantastic 100th Day party on Thursday! We went on a number hunt around the building (Thank you Mr. Maxey!), made necklaces with 100 Fruit Loops, wrote to 100, made a 100 snack baggie, and celebrated with snacks and drinks! Thanks for sending the WONDERFUL projects you worked on with your child AND sending in snacks for the party. As always, THANK YOU for all your support!! We are making memories!
