Meet Mrs. Ice

My name is Mrs. Cheryl Ann Ice and I am very excited to have the opportunity to share with you and your child in his/her first grade experience.  Because I will be getting to know your child very well this year, I wanted to share with you a few things about my self, both personally and professionally.

I have been teaching for fourteen years, and I have been at Salem Elementary for twelve years.  Prior to that I attended Eastern Illinois University where I received my B.A. and I have completed a M.A. degree in Education.  I am married and have two daughters and a son. 

Teaching is something that I do whole heartedly and realize that you are entrusting me with a treasured possession...your child.  My goal as a teacher is to motivate and encourage your child to reach his/her highest abilities.  I teach with a hands on approach.  I believe if a child sees he will forget, if a child hears he will remember, and if a child does he will understand.  I believe that every child CAN achieve.  I am looking forward to having fun with your child as we prepare for his/her next step in education.

My teaching philosophy is this, I teach children more than how to read or write or count, I encourage and build them up to be the best that they can be.  I will respect and give your child my full understanding, and in return I expect the same from your child.

I am looking forward to an exciting year of in first grade.  I will do my best to make you feel a part of your child's first grade experience by keeping you informed weekly on what is going on in our classroom.  Please feel free to call me at school, (548-7702) if questions or concerns arise.  You are the most important person in your child's life, and by working together we can ensure that your child's first grade experience will be filled with wonderful memories that will last a lifetime!
