Eating Eyeballs

Eating eyeballs is a reading activity that gets students to interpret points of view. The read is about food eaten by different groups. Some people eat food that others wouldn't. Students formulated questions that focused on their reading. We discussed the author's point of view and how it might be different than our point of view. We discussed different kinds of eyeballs that people eat and how we felt about each one.
We discussed if we could eat eyeballs or not and then we had fun just by pretending olives were eyeballs and we did a chart on who liked olives and who didn't. We all decided that we probably wouldn't enjoy eating REAL eyeballs.
